version 1 lasted from the founding of the site in 2021 up until fall of 2023. i wanted the first iteration of the site to look very polished and professional, and flower themed. my sister said it looked like a Home & Gardens magazine page (in a good way). it is minimalist and clean, muted colors, features lavender in the background of the header (one of my favorites).
when i started building a crew site i knew i wanted to include as much detail about the petz as possible, it is a site for my crew after all. i wanted to make sure to showcase as much as possible about each pet. this first version included individual javascript buttons that, when clicked, would display a second page in a secondary iframe that listed unique information about each pet, as well as detailed photos including each side of the pet and a baby pic, and if applicable, all show awards and titles.
version 1.5:
having to update the site each time the pet won a show title was a little too much for me. i knew i wanted to do a revamp of some sort, so in january of 2023 i put a little placeholder image and closed the site from view. for about 8 months i ruminated on the style and what i wanted to do with the overall look, and that is rather overwhelming. i tried, pink, white, different flowers, no flowers, pixel art, but i kept coming back to the way the site looked before i started changing things up. in the mean time, Thor, of Thor's Petz, figured out a way to decode a pet's favorite colors and flavors! now, that is something i wanted to include. i didn't think essentially flipping the site wrapper on its side would necessitate a seperate 'version' as i was essentially keeping the look and colors of the first version.
1.5 includes navigation buttons in one place as a header of sorts, and each pet acts as their own button, displaying their information when clicked and hiding when clicked again. very satisfying. i also removed the show information as it can be found on my RKC champion compendium!
